Law No. 90 of the Federal Law on Traffic applies if the driver of a school transport vehicle (bus) commits a violation. Further disobeying traffic instructions and signs will attract a fine of Dh500 along with 6 traffic points.

Article No. 91 will be imposed if drivers fail to stop when school buses open their arms to show stop signs while boarding or disembarking students. This means that the driver will receive a fine of 1,000 dirhams and 10 traffic points. Brigadier Ahmed Saeed Al Naqbi, director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at the General Department of Central Operations in Ras al-Khaimah and former chairman of the Traffic Awareness Committee of the Federal Traffic Council, clarified that the campaign should prioritize the safety of students.

Patrols will be deployed around schools to prevent accidents among students and ensure safe pedestrian crossings - especially when boarding, alighting and entering schools from vehicles and buses. The patrol aims to successfully achieve the objectives of the Home Ministry's strategy to increase safety and security in schools.

The police have drawn up a strategic plan to intensify traffic patrolling at intersections and internal and external roads in the emirate. This is to regulate traffic and facilitate movement of school buses.

The police requested all drivers to commit to stopping their vehicles completely before the stopped buses at a distance of not less than five meters to ensure safe travel of the students.

The traffic safety awareness campaign aims to sensitize drivers, school students, administration and parents to promote good traffic behavior in the society. The aim is to familiarize them with traffic rules and regulations so that they can provide high standards of traffic safety to children when they go to school and return home.
